BART Elevator Flooring Replacement

This project involved replacement of flooring and subflooring in 80 elevators at a majority of stations throughout the BART system. The project required significant re-design during construction to address product performance issues with the new flooring system, failing sub-floors, and age-related impacts throughout. Because the work took place in and around operating stations, special measures had to be taken to avoid disruptions to service and patrons, including physical and electronic posting of notices, and hands-on communication with the public on an ongoing basis.

Services Provided: The Allen Group is providing construction management services, including: a Resident Engineer who is working with BART project management staff to ensure that budget and scheduling goals are being met, and providing quality control; and a Construction Inspector, who is coordinating field activities and inspections with the contractor to monitor proper compliance and acceptable completion of the work.
